Oil and energy services
We render exploration services to the oil industry and build the local capability that a new producing basin depends on.
Since 2022, discoveries in the Orange Basin have made Namibia a new oil province. Developing them will need local services, suppliers and skilled people.
Major operators including TotalEnergies, Shell and Galp have drilled in Namibian waters, and projects such as Venus and Mopane are moving through appraisal and development planning, with first production being worked towards around the end of the decade. Each stage requires exploration support, marine and logistics services, skilled people and suppliers, much of which can and should be delivered locally. That is the space SCG serves.
Exploration services
Geoscience & technical support
Access to geoscience, engineering and project specialists supporting survey, evaluation and appraisal programmes.
Marine & logistics support
Coordinating vessels, supply, warehousing and shore-base services through Namibia’s ports, including Walvis Bay.
Local content & supply chain
Identifying, vetting and partnering Namibian suppliers, so operators meet local-participation expectations with confidence.
Drilling & well support
Equipment, personnel and service partnerships that support drilling and well operations.
Health, safety & environment
Management systems and assurance aligned with international operator standards.
Permitting & liaison
Support with regulatory engagement, licensing steps and stakeholder relationships on the ground.
The basin lifecycle
A producing basin is built in phases. Each one creates demand for local capability, and each is a point where we can add value.
Explore
Seismic and survey programmes, permitting and shore-base set-up.
Appraise
Appraisal drilling, marine logistics and technical support services.
Develop
Supplier partnerships, local-content structures and workforce development.
Produce
Operations support, health and safety assurance and ongoing service contracts.
Working with international contractors
International contractors bring technology and experience; Namibian partners bring access, presence and permanence. SCG structures the joint ventures, capital and governance that let the two work as one team.
Joint ventures
Structures that combine global contractors with Namibian ownership and operating teams.
Capital for services
Funding for the vessels, yards, equipment and facilities that service companies need.
Workforce
Pathways that build Namibian technical talent alongside project delivery.

Beyond oil
Namibia’s oil ambitions sit alongside one of the world’s best solar and wind endowments, and a national interest in green hydrogen. The capability we build for the hydrocarbon sector (logistics, engineering, local suppliers) is the same capability the wider energy transition will need.
